Today is a very exciting day in our District with the opening of both Belmont and Royal Bay secondary schools! It was all smiles and even some “awww’s” as students in Grades 9 and 10 walked into their new schools this morning. Tomorrow is set to be another big day as all secondary grades will fill the schools.
These two new schools truly are community driven and built and we are thrilled to have them in SD62. Our Board of Education, school administrative staff, teachers and other district employees worked incredibly hard to get these schools ready for opening today. Much of the Royal Bay and Belmont admin teams and other amazing staff worked full time throughout the summer to ensure that the nearly 1,900 students had beautiful schools to walk in to today.
We know these schools mean a lot to people inside and outside of our school district. Planning is underway for huge community open house celebrations of the schools for later in the fall. We want to give students and staff at the new schools time to settle in and build their new school cultures.
Welcome Belmont and Royal Bay students!
